Sweet Caroline's Bakery, owned and operated by Roy and Caroline Bouman, comes from a long line of bakeries in the Bouman family dating back to the early 1800's!

1880's - Andries Bouman opens a fine pastry bakery in Zaandam, Holland
1880's - Andries Bouman opens the first electric bakery in Zaandam, HollandIn 1880 Roy's great grandfather, Andries Bouman (son of Harmen Bouman who was a baker since 1825), opened a fine pastries bakery in Zaandam, Holland in 1880. Andries later went on to open the very first electric bakery at Zuiddyk 169 in Zaandam, Holland (pictured on right).
1909 - Arend Bouman takes over the family business in a new location and is the first baker to ever ship cookies in tins!
Door-to-door bread delivery in the 1920'sIn 1909 the Bouman family bakery had a new location and a new owner as Arend Bouman, Roy's grandfather and son of Andries Bouman, took over the business. He was the first baker to ever ship cookies in tins! In the 1920's door-to-door bread deliver (pictured on the right) was a bit different than bread delivery today!
1935 - Uncle Karel took over and had grand father Arend build a new bakery for him in Holland.

Customers lined up to buy fresh baked goods!Today the Bouman bakery tradition continues in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. In 1996 Roy Bouman, a baker since 1979, opened Sweet Caroline's Bakery, and as shown in the picture to the right, customers line up to purchase daily fresh baked goods!
